![]() ![]() But I'm not sitting on $50,000 in inventory, which is what I would have to have in order to offer the number of designs, styles, colors, and sizes that I have for sale. That means lots of time setting up and cleaning screens for a given design to sometimes print only ONE shirt with that design that week. I screen print my own designs based on whatever orders come in each week. That's still better than buying too much inventory at a better price but never being able to sell it. I'm assuming that your initial orders are not very large, so you aren't getting a volume discount. In general, the more of a design you have printed at one time, the less each print costs. You might find he is charging a fair price, or not. If you are unhappy with the TOTAL price your printer is charging, you might shop around for another printer. To do so would be against the rules of this forum, and good business sense. You'll note that in my previous post I did not list actual prices for specific shirts from specific wholesalers. And one reason it has always been done that way is so that regular retail consumers do not learn the true wholesale price of shirts. Most split that between the shirt markup and the printing just because that is the way it has always been done. Different shops slice and dice it different ways, but at the end of the day they need to clear X amount of money for X amount of work. If they did not charge that markup, they would have to charge more for the print work. When pricing a print job they are including a markup on the blank shirts. Printers are businesses, and the point of business is to make money. If you get setup with a wholesale account and buy the shirts yourself and then walk into a print shop with them, they will either tell you to get lost, or they will charge more to print each shirt than if you use the shirts they have. So that is the price you are being quoted for the blanks that the printer is going to print on for you? I had assumed you were doing the printing yourself. Reprints for size are are real wallet drainer.Ĭlick to expand.I see. I've noticed that NL's can shrink a smidge more than Canvas and Anvil if you dry with heat. You can go all Next Level and not regret it Canvas/Anvil as a backup if you need the color. Now, all of this goes out the window if you are selling to people in their teens and 20's. If your customer is borderline on size, you might kick out returns on size because they will be too tight on the belly. They are less generous than the 980's, but larger at the waist than the 3600's. In blends, they are more like 980's, IMO. For 40+ to middle-aged customers, these will be way softer than anything else they ever owned, and they will like the generous but not flowy waist and sleeves. ![]() The Anvil 980 is just a notch down in feel and quality, but still much better than FOTL, Gildan, and Jerzees. I went through this horribly until I wised up. ![]() But, they are cut dang small, so if you are selling to older folks with dad bods, you must have them upsize, or your getting a ton of returns. If you have all three in front of you, the Next Level 3600 does have the best hand and stitch, IMHO. This Standard weight t-shirt is also made from a lighter-weight cotton, making it breathable and flattering.Disclaimer: Only been in business 7 months, but have used Bella + Canvas, NL, and Anvil a bunch. Great looks and dependability mean that the 980 Anvil cotton Tee will make your investment last. The 980 Tee includes double-needle stitching on the sleeves and hem, and moisture management and moisture wicking to help dry clothes faster and keep them dry by repelling new moisture. However, this Anvil top is about durability too. Set-in sleeves and shoulder-to-shoulder taping also contribute to the Anvil 980's sporty look. Featuring a tear-away label and "fashion-fit" to create an eye-catching athletic cut, this Anvil shirt will get people to notice the logo, catch phrase, and image on your t-shirt because people will WANT to wear this shirt. Available in a wide range of colors and sizes, the Anvil 980 100% preshrunk cotton Short-Sleeve Tee is the perfect comfy, yet durable, shirt that will meet all of your printing needs. ![]()
